   TPI aims at understanding modernity by analyzing its most distinctive visual images.

This teaching program is two-dimensional: The theoretical approach is involved in classes on history, theory and philosophy of images while the practical one appears in teaching the masters how to analyze individual texts and as different images as paintings, photography, cultural icons, architecture, advertising, and computer processed images and so on

   The curriculum is covering the five major areas of final specialization:

  1. History and theory of images;
  2. Particular literary or visual images (or artists);
  3. Images of self, the other or of social institutions;
  4. Politics of imagery;
  5. Architecture and public space.

   SMS is active at the crossroads of different fields of humanities as a complementary approach to the "Cultural Studies" accredited at the UB as a BA.

   The SMS program consists of seven core modules which are also its areas of final specialization:

  1. Visual techniques on stage: theoretical aspects;
  2. Theatre and other public performances;
  3. Movies;
  4. Social and political shows;
  5. Television and social media;
  6. Movement and dance;
  7. Management and cultural campaigns.

   The classes included in these modules are spread throughout the four semesters of the program.

   It deserves mentioning that SMS is built on different partnership agreements with the Arts University of Karlsruhe, the University of Utrecht and the University of Paris III. Some of their professors are lecturing alongside prestigious Romanian experts.
